We never meant to be this bad,

we never meant to be this sad. We never meant to be a lot of things that were lurking in the dark
-Whitley, Facades II
Such a shame that the lovely Australian band that is Whitley decided to split up. I managed to see one of their last gigs and it was truly one of the best gigs I have ever been to. Only very small and held in the back of a pub but quite marvellous all the same. But I suppose in the end not all bands can stay together.

I am amassing a collection of vintage white/cream dresses it seems. I think I would like this one to be just a tiny bit longer though. Maybe I will attach a lace layer to the bottom. And it needs a sash or ribbon around the middle.

I have a party coming up which is themed 'Evil Doers.' I am going to go as a vampire I think. I was going to go as a DALEK but a) I decided it might be overkill for a backyard bbq and b) it would be hard to sit down with styrofoam balls stuck to your skirt and c) the host of the party didn't know what they are. So keeping in mind the fact that I already have a set of vampire caps I shall go as a vampire. Don't fret though, there will be absolutely no glitter involved. In fact I am thinking of dressing more like a child vampire rather than a gothy adult one like I might normally do. I'm thinking more Claudia from Interview with the Vampire or Drusilla from Buffy (though yes, I know she isn't a child).

The Truth is Something Wonderous to Behold...

I've been a bit busy with Uni things lately so I haven't had time to do any outfit shots. I did however attend a friends 21st Birthday Party and I made my own costume. I think that fits in with this blog, it is afterall supposed to be about clothing AND craft. I also have plans to make some bags when I have some time.

Can you guess the theme? =P

In other news I spent pretty much all of yesterday cleaning my room. I hoard things as I may have discussed earlier, and I don't have room for everything. It ends up on the floor a lot of the time. I've never taken less than 4 hours to clean my room, and I usually do it once or twice a month. Yesterday was perhaps the most epic room cleaning I've undertaken in maybe a year. I cleared out boxes that I had stored from changing furniture in my room last August. I know, I'm horribly lazy.

But the end result is quite fantastic. And now I can photograph it later for a Photography Project. The theme is IDENTITY and as I am fascinated by the way people can construct identity through a blog I'm going with a documentary style.

The downside of having a permanently messy room? Aside from the obvious drawbacks, people don't believe you when you say its really clean! So here is my proof for my friends in some low grade shots that I will use for my journal. The actual pictures I will shoot in daylight with a film SLR.

my lovely jumbled mess of a room, as clean as it's probably ever going to get

Adventures In Wonderland

Follow my blog with bloglovin
I have to say, I am getting pretty excited about the new Tim Burton take on Alice in Wonderland. In just a few days over a month it will be in cinemas and in delightful 3D glory. I have always been a particular fan of the world of Lewis Carol and I elected to study the story of Alice for my Advanced English HSC paper. I thought it was very appropriate to the topic of 'Imaginative Journey.'

Last year I turned 20 and decided to ring in the new age with an Alice In Wonderland themed birthday party. I made the guests play croquet and participate in 3 legged races and tea cup relays as well as musical chairs.

I painted roses red and cooked up a tea party storm of wonderful proportions.

And the guests turned up, for the most part, in costumed glory. Everyone looked stunning.

But my main reason for blogging about this is I made my own costume, pretty much from head to toe. I made the ears, earrings, neck tie, ruffle tail, shorts, anklet and steampunk style WR badge that you can't really see as it was on my tails coat that I added when night fell.

A friend and I are going to go and see Alice In Wonderland in 3D at the Imax cinema in Sydney, which according to a Scottish guy is the largest in the world? The things you learn from tourists...however that could also just be the Australian hyperbole. I want to dress up and insist my friend dress up also. I figure i already have the costume?

The only problem is I wore this in the middle of winter, and it is now the middle of summer here. Eeewww. Tights are therefore not ideal, but essential to the outfit! Do you see my dilemma? Also Sydney is a 3 hour train trip away and I've done that trip in a corset before much to the disgust of my internal organs... but it is possible. All for the name of fashion and fun?

Being so long, the only way to curl my hair is to put it in rags overnight.

White rabbit and Cheshire Cat

Adventures in croquet. I'm not sure how my friends feel about their photos being on the blog so
unfortunately you are stuck looking at me.
(you can also see the evidence of my
second unsuccessful attempt at the 3 legged race)

And finally toward the end a few stragglers arrived uncostumed but still welcome

Hope you have enjoyed.
