The lovely Eleanor departed to lands afar this evening. Seems to be a trend among my nearest and dearest haha. I will have my turn one day. So to say goodbye I bussed/walked over to her house at a ridiculously early hour that required being awake before 7pm. Uuurgh. But walks in the freezing cold are surprisingly invigorating, if not so great for extremities like noses.
I hung around and talked to her mother about my vague overseas plans while she went through her own awakening routines and then we went to the movies. I was the mildly awkward 7th wheel to a 3 couple set but oh well. We went to see Toy Story 3. Quite the epic movie! I am not sure if I prefer that one or the 2nd one, probably the 2nd but give it time. I think it lived up to the hype.
Finished said beanie last night. It looks somewhat like a gum nut. It was a good learning experience. Now I know what to adjust and such so that the next one is better. As everyone has departed for sunny Europe I should have quiiite a bit of time on my hands.
Although this beanie was the 'learning curve' beanie I quite like it. I don't like beanies that cover my forehead...in fact I like beanies that I can forget I am wearing. Ones that keep me warm without bothering me, which this one does as I have worn it all day haha. Still, I will make the next one longer before I start decreasing so it sits on my head more. Or on the head of whoever I give it to.
I actually bought the skirt I am wearing to match my fox beanie. It has little red riding printed all over it. But it worked with this hat as well.

Taken in by the delicate noise, knocked to the ground by the subtle thunder
Well yesterday I decided I was sick of knitting in a straight line and I wanted to learn how to knit a beanie. I bought some wool and needles on my way to a friends and by about 2 in the morning (I was watching Harvey Birdman and Disney's Robin Hood at the same time) I had half a beanie! Huzzah. Most exciting.
I suspect it may just end up being just a cm or 2 too big but better to be too big than too small I think. And not at all bad for a first beanie...I think. I can't wait until it's finished.
Also I have no impulse control and am attracted to pretty things. These were on special, came in a variety of very pretty colours and are so soft! Who could resist...well certainly not me! So I got 3 balls of yarn instead of the one colour like I actually needed. More beanies? We shall see.
It's overcast and cloudy so they are lit with a lamp, not the best for true colour accuracy but take my word, they are pretty haha.
And now off to the last French class for the term. We are having a party. Woo French cuisine to keep us occupied while we fail at the language!
Au revoir tout le mond x

Working on my backwards walk.
I have a couple of things for you today one of which is my new bedspread and quilt which I finally photographed. Another other is a long red scarf I'm knitting.
So first up is my lovely new bed set. The quilt is hand made and I bought it from the lovely and talented ladies that are Sketch and Jones at some markets in December. The colours are probably not something I would ever have said I wanted on my bed but they do go wonderfully together and I am very glad I decided to purchase it. Now all I need is a cushion I saw in on of my favourite shops; Blackbird Corner. The case is blue red and cream diamonds with little vintage boys dressed up as cowboys on hobby horses. I think it will fit right in =]
Secondly I had a small picnic today with a friend. I took my knitting and sat in the park and we drank juice from my new mug and saucer set from Melbourne. We ate sandwhiches and Lemon Maderia cake and were generally merry in the sunlight, celebrating the disappearance of mosquitoe from the park. I am in love with my new sunglasses. Actually I have 2 new pairs. These ones and a pair of heart shaped glasses with a black and white check print that I wore all weekend.
