Fiend for Polka Dots
I have a slight addiction to polka dots. Especially white ones on blue fabric. The first I made myself using a 1950's pattern and the second I purchased just today. I now have 6 blue polka dots dresses!
Pretty soon I'm going to have too many blue dresses, but I do tend to like them best. Red doesn't look that good on me, although I like it. Lovely green dresses are hard to find. Yellow that isn't too well...yellow is also hard. I wore too much purple as a child and now I don't like it. And I'm quite picky about black, grey and white clothing. It has to be either really simple or really beautiful so it can be matched with other things or pretty enough to stand on it's own.

We move like cagey tigers, oh we couldn't get closer than this
the way we walk, the way we talk, the way we stalk, the way we kiss

So I have been being mildly creative of late and have spent a couple of weeks decopaging this box/bag in between art projects. It has taken me so long because one of my printmaking projects for uni involved covering a whole box in decopaged book pages. After that I had no desire to ever decopage again, but I really wanted to finish this so a couple of days ago I decided to perservere. I quite like the end result. I am not entirely sure what to do regarding the inside which is still its original paper bag brown colour. Might leave it at that, might paint it red or cream, or might find the will to decopage the inside as well. I am also going to make a new strap or two for it I think.
I have another bag/box to cover which I am going to cover in some vintage Peter Pan paper I got for my Birthday.

Feeling the pull
It is 7 past midnight and I am in an unfortunately hyperactive and creative mood. The reason that this is unfortunate is because I am feeling too creative. I am feeling creative across too many mediums with no actual ideas and all my wants conflict so I can't settle on anything. It is also as I said midnight, and so perhaps not the best time for starting epic creative projects. Thirdly...I think thirdly anyway, is that my craft things are packed in various boxes in varying locations, but the majority are camping out having a party in my new art studio. I am told it has a light switch...but I have yet to locate it. "Just hit the switch inside the door" mum says. Sure, I've tried that. There's 2 and neither work!
Foremost in my creative desires I think is the desire to make a Gibbous style skirt. Right now, this very minute. For one I think it would take me a bit of time to figure out how to aproach said project, though eventually I think I could get it. Secondly I lack varying and interestingly co-ordinating fabrics of a preferably vintage nature. Thirdly I think it would probably take me a number of months to complete so I would fail on all counts of 'I want to make this NOW.'
I have been lusting after one of these skirts for about 2 years now. I think it is high time I went about commissioning one. Gibbous is a group of I think 4 designers with similar styles and techniques. All of their clothes are largely hand sewn and crafted from vintage and reused fabrics. And usually come with a special something like a key or lock or plastic flower attached as well.

Much Love posted about the Creative Collection recently, and I think it might be an idea to let that inspire me into being creative. This is seriously not the best idea, as I have 4 weeks left of UNI and those 4 weeks are filled with soooooo many assignments. Oh well!

Taken in by the delicate noise, knocked to the ground by the subtle thunder
Well yesterday I decided I was sick of knitting in a straight line and I wanted to learn how to knit a beanie. I bought some wool and needles on my way to a friends and by about 2 in the morning (I was watching Harvey Birdman and Disney's Robin Hood at the same time) I had half a beanie! Huzzah. Most exciting.
I suspect it may just end up being just a cm or 2 too big but better to be too big than too small I think. And not at all bad for a first beanie...I think. I can't wait until it's finished.
Also I have no impulse control and am attracted to pretty things. These were on special, came in a variety of very pretty colours and are so soft! Who could resist...well certainly not me! So I got 3 balls of yarn instead of the one colour like I actually needed. More beanies? We shall see.
It's overcast and cloudy so they are lit with a lamp, not the best for true colour accuracy but take my word, they are pretty haha.
And now off to the last French class for the term. We are having a party. Woo French cuisine to keep us occupied while we fail at the language!
Au revoir tout le mond x
